'Sand Clock', 2012, part of an installation 'Sand Clock', 2012, part of an installation

The works of Ayman Ramadan are site-specific and express a deep social commitment. Through various media, often combined in an installation, he attempts to create immersive environments that provoke the viewer into considering issues relating to labour, the anonymity of the individual within the urban landscape and the frustrations stemming from political realities in Cairo. In his explorations of contemporary Middle-Eastern experiences, he draws on a wide range of sources – from pop culture and global politics to Islamic traditions.
