The work is a combination of my mathematical PhD thesis with photography and hand-written texts. The thesis deals with automated focusing of the electron microscope. It appeared that the mathematical problem of searching for sharp images is directly related to unsharpness in a lot of my photography work, which can be connected to my personality and youth. Artworks are often regarded as personal autobiographical pieces. Scientific research is rarely related to the personal life of the scientist. Could the scientific research be as autobiographical?
