Mijn werk is multidisciplinair en heeft vaak te maken met een bepaalde gemeenschap. Via mijn werk verken ik opvattingen over uitwisseling, specifiek ten aanzien van valuta als een bemiddelingsinstrument om maatschappelijke relaties te vestigen. In mijn werk richt ik me op een vervreemdend economisch systeem met bijbehorende sociale structuren. Ik gebruik kunst als een instrument, dat de betekenis van het dagelijks leven kan veranderen of in een andere context plaatsen. Mijn werk functioneert op twee niveaus. Ten eerste op een concreet niveau; ze komen bijna neer op een vorm van activisme, aangezien ze een concrete uitwerking hebben op het leven van mensen. Ten tweede op een metaforisch niveau, als de toeschouwer mijn werk als metaforen op zich beschouwt.
My work is multidisciplinary, site-specific and often engages particular communities. It explores notions of exchange, specifically regarding currency as a mediation device through which social relations are established. It addresses an alienating economic system and its social structures. I use art as a tool that may change the meaning of everyday life as well as re-contextualize it. My pieces work at two levels: first, at a concrete one, they are almost a form of activism, since they have a real impact on people’s lives, and second, at a metaphorical level, when art audiences interpret my interventions as metaphors themselves.
