Een verstild en zwijgend lichaam kan in potentie alles en niets doen, in tegenstelling tot een lichaam dat statisch is in vorm en intentie. Gezag vraagt aan mensen om niet te zwijgen, maar om zich te uiten op manieren die zij gepast vindt. Een negatief lichaam, dat wars is van communicatie en actie, legt het knedende effect bloot van gezag en van gehanteerde gezagsmiddelen. Stilte en verstildheid zijn onmogelijke verlangens; niet te verenigen en niet te spelen.
A still body in silence carries a potential to do everything and nothing, as opposed to being permanent in form and intention. As authority asks people not to be silent but to speak in ways that it finds appropriate, a negative body that resists communicating and acting exposes the moulding effect of authority and its various means upon us. Silence and stillness is an impossible desire - not to join and not to play.
