Emile Zile exposes the everyday tragedy of the disconnected individual in the digital age. His performative YouTube videos, short films and monologues directed at an unresponsive rock are both painful and humorous portraits of networked loneliness. Zile goes beyond the archival and seeks to actively alter the way in which technology can shape human relations. He appropriates unilateral communication devices such as YouTube, the iPod and the selfie and reintegrates them into social space through physical performances and film.
