Ayman Ramadan is site-specific and deeply socially engaged. Through minimalist metal sculpture, video, and photography (often combined in one installation), he attempts to create immersive environments that provoke the viewer to consider issues relating to labour, the anonymity of the individual in the urban landscape of Cairo, and frustrations stemming from local political realities. He draws on a wide range of influences, from pop culture to global politics to Islamic traditions, in his explorations of contemporary Middle Eastern experience.
