Irina Popova’s photography moves between the borders of art and documentary. With a background in journalism, Popova uses different media to tell her stories. Growing up during the Post-Soviet era, the fast paced changes in Russia are a great source of inspiration. Popova has a keen eye for the margins of society – the immigrants, refugees, homeless people and addicts. “While investigating life with the camera I try to tell deeply about something that normal people pass by unnoticed every day.” For her latest project Popova travelled to Morocco, where she wondered why the Arab Spring didn’t touch the country.
