This is curious because an artist once said that ‘teeth are the only bones that show.’ Some years ago, while digging in someone’s backyard in Gugulethu with an afro-comb, I discovered bones. The work is a imaginative re-staging of historic South African stage play 'The Island' by John Kani, Winston Ntshona and Athol Fugard. Choreographed in collaboration with Khayelihle Dominique Gumede the work utilizes a strategy of repetition to evokes notions of the body as archive.
