Working on body-related formats like the portrait, the blanket or the exhibition space as such, Rosenkranz' work deals with technologies of the self and the limits of subjectivity. A so-called White Wash used with a slight tint of a colour pigment undermines the meaning of white as the absence of colour and the neutrality of a space. Zeroing in on 'décor' in reference to the colour wheel of Ralph Lauren Home Paints, she contrasts the shade of a privileged domesticity with the remainder of institutional critique and forces the signifiers of consumer brands to be confronted with the very idea of art.
Death of Yves Klein (2011)
Screening the “International Klein Blue”, Yves Kleins famous color mixed from ultramarine and cobalt, patented in 1956; the monitor’s display is not able to match the color, because it does not occur within the digital spectrum. Looking at Yves Klein’s early death, the work is examining his biography from a medical perspective; habits like smoking, the consumption of amphetamines, the extensive and unprotected contact with pigments, paints, fire, thinners as well as the stress-hormon "cortisol" that was released when he was watching the documentary „Mondo Cane“ that diffamed him in Cannes, are the materials that led to his lethal heart-attack.
