Technical facilities
Artists work together with technical experts on research, production
and experiment. In professionally equipped workshops, one works and
experiments with traditional and contemporary materials and techniques.
The resident artists’ requests largely steer the developments and
fields of research within the workshops.
There are four clusters of technical workshops:
- image and sound: photography, film, video, sound, electronics
- print-making: engraving, letterpress, planography, silk-screen, artist
publications
- chemicals: paint, plastics, ceramics and glass
- construction: metal, wood and electronics
The technical workshops virtually offer all relevant possibilities for
the production of contemporary art. Due to the interdisciplinary manner
of working and the collaboration between the various workshops,
requests by residents are often carried out in a manner that crosses
boundaries. The technical advisors enter into collaborations with both
research institutes and companies in order to acquire special
expertise. They also organise workshops on special techniques and
materials.
