Collections

The collection of the Rijksakademie is one of the few kept art historic collections in the Netherlands. A major part has been accommodated in various forms of loan at Dutch museums (Rijksmuseum/Rijksprentenkabinet, Museum Boijmans van Beuningen, Allard Pierson Museum, Nederlands Architectuurinstituut).
In addition to the history of the Rijksakademie since 1870, the collections show the history of the 'Stadsteekenacademie' (1718 - 1821) and the 'Koninklijke Academie' (1817 - 1870). The collection not only includes works by famous artists made during their study, but also prints and drawings that were used for study purposes, plaster casts and skeletons. In addition there is a small collection of contemporary art.
This valuable legacy can be used for study and research purposes by resident artists of the Rijksakademie and other artists, museums, curators, researchers and others. You can make an appointment to see the collections.
