The most important change in the oldest Dutch 'state'prize for artists and architects living in the Netherlands is to no longer seperate all disciplines. Since 2005 there is only the distintion between the PRIXDEROME.NL Visual Arts (held every two years) and the PRIXDEDEROME.NL Architecture (held every four years).

Artists and architects up to 35 years of age can participate and in the first round an international jury selects a longlist of ten candidates. These ten present their work at the Rijksakadmie and after this second round four nominated candidates are left: the shortlist. They can work in-residency at the Rijksakademie on their final presentation which the jury will judge during the exhibition. The winner receives €45.000, second prize winner €20.000 and there are two basic prizes of €10.000 each.
