On Thursday the 16th of June at 16:00 hours the Reading Room of our library opens a small presentation of the artist books of Antoinette Nausikaä
Apart from installations, publications are an important part of her artistic practice. The autonomous books function as a medium, in which she creates a platform for her work as she would do in an exhibition space.
Antoinette Nausikaä works on site specific projects, mostly on sites where nature and urbanism collide. These sites temporarily become her work- and living space. By observing, she researches how perception and behaviour is related to time, space and identity. The personal connection with her direct surroundings are central within this interaction.
Since 2002, she created twelve self-published artist books from specific locations or periods of time. The structures that combine photography, drawings, documentations of thoughts and observations, result into a poetical, journal-like and personal character. They become an increasingly important part of her oeuvre. In 2016 all publications will be included in the library collection of the Rijksakademie.
The presentation is on display till the 26th of august.
