Nadine Ghandour is an artist whose practice alternates between library practices, drawing , writing and sculpture. Her work presents stories of unstable architecture, shapeshifting surroundings and buildings that trap its inhabitants. She is interested in ways we experience architecture within cities that develop at hyper speeds, and how this affects the psyche of its residents. She creates fictional characters, imagines spaces with bizarre lighting conditions, and immerses herself in absurd realities. Nadine holds a MFA from Piet Zwart Institute in Rotterdam, 2023 and a BA in Illustration from Camberwell College of Arts, University of the Arts, London, 2015.
In collaboration with Mona Ayyash, she also programmed the artist run initiative Office Run, a series of day-long takeovers of office spaces by artists and writers in Dubai from 2018-2019.
Nadine’s tech fellow research project aims to create a series of alternative wayfinding systems that exist across the physical spaces, the collections, the digital catalogue and on printed paper. These would act as descriptions, summaries and interpretations of the collection for those who don’t have physical access to the collection, and provide unexpected routes for visitors who might find themselves overwhelmed by such a vast quantity of material, or simply a reprieve for those who are chronically lost.
