Join us for the record release of Bert Scholten's new album 'Hond Geworden'. With performances by Bert Scholten, a performance by M. Klein and listening session of Lang Lee / Donghwan Kam.
On his third album ‘Hond geworden’, Bert Scholten (RA 18/19) picks up where he left off with ‘Dat Speelt Hier Niet’ (2023). On that, he made songs about speculaas boards accompanied by whimsical electronic compositions. Since 2018, he has been incorporating these local Dutch customs into exhibitions, videos and songs in which the archaic becomes strangely personal.
On ‘Hond geworden’ (‘Became Dog’) synths are combined with explorative drumming and vibraphone, injecting the electronic sounds with physical energy. Scholten has a background in garage punk bands, DIY experimental music and performance art, but is often called a modern-day troubadour.
